Senior Champs Results

July 31st, 2008 by Coach Nate

Long course Sr. Champs went fantastic…as usual!

The Team (2 girls, 4 boys, plus one unattached Zack Motter) scored 194.5 points…good enough for 9th place team in the State.

We will continue to move up the ranks as time goes on and we continue to achieve the goals we have set year in and year out.

Congrats to everyone who swam…you all did a great job stepping up this summer and training your butts off to achieve what you have.

A few highlights…

Bobby Walsh earned his US Open cut in the 200 IM and WON the event.  He also finished with best times in every event he swam and top 8 finishes in the 400 IM and 200 fly.

Haley Schweitzer went best times in 8 different events this summer and made it back in two events (100 fly and 200 fly).

Kasey Morris was on the podium three times…2nd place finishes in the 800 and 1500 Freestyles as well as a 3rd place finish in the 100 Back.  She also finished 7th in overall points.

Zack Motter dropped time in all of his events and we can’t wait to be able to use him on relays.  He missed his Speedo Jr Cut by a tenth of a second and made his first Finals ever.

Nate Destree missed his Speedo Jr cut by .08 hundredths of a second…also reaching his first Finals.  Also had great swims in the 100 and 200 freestyes.

Corey Sica added some collegiate knowledge to the younger swimmers and got up and raced for the first time since February.  Was a great help on deck.

Bryan Uncur, in his final summer before heading to Virginia Tech, posted several Top 16 finishes and some outstanding relay splits.

The Senior Group is looking forward to the short course season, as we take what we have done from this long course season and put it into action.

May 29th, 2008 by Coach Cassell

Hello TAC parents and swimmers…..We continue our spring training in long course season with the Raleigh and Firecracker meets as our next round of long course meets….Our two championship meets in July are LOCAL so we would hope to see as many TAC swimmers as possible in those meets…..Please keep in mind we always try and field a full slate of relays at the championship meets so we will be getting out in late June the projected line ups for those meets and especially if your swimmer is a Relay only swimmer……

Our cross training with Core BOXING begins this week and you will see that station work going on at Coach Cassell’s practices…..

High fives to JB Walsh and Bobby Walsh as they represent TAC at the Charlotte Ultra Swim the weekend of June 5th…..JB is using this meet as his tune up for the OLYMPICS in late July and early August……Coach Doug and Casey Moore have qualified for the Omaha Grand Prix in Omaha, Nebraska and will be on deck with some of the best swimmers in the world….This Grand Prix is held at the Olympic trial pool and Casey and Doug continue to train at the Race Club as they try and achieve the trial cuts……You can follow all four of these swimmers and their results at the USS swimming web site….

Coach Sean Anderson will be traveling to the RACE CLUB to learn as much as possible about their sprint program and cross training routines……He will be observing the best sprinters in the world as they train for the Trials and Olympics and Coach Mike Bottoms program….TAC sprinters can look forward to some excellent coaching as Coach Sean and Coach Doug return to the deck….

LAST DAY TO SIGN UP FOR THE FIRECRACKER INVITE!
If you are not going to Raleigh, it is in your best interest to sign up for this meet.  If you are going to Raleigh, you do not necessarily need to sign up for this meet, but if you want more swims, then by all means sign up.  They are only two weeks apart, though!
